Chicago Manufacturing

The Chicago area is one of the most critical cities in the country for manufacturing. A highly diverse set of nearly 12,000 manufacturers employ hundreds of thousands of people throughout the region. These companies are key to the dynamism of our economy and are the primary source of exports for our state. I look forward to being able to share more with you about this often overlooked, but extremely important sector of our economy.

This blog is dedicated to chronicling the Chicago area's manufacturing sector, in particular small and medium manufacturers. I will looking in depth at trends, technology, start ups, areas of growth, challenges for the industry, and will be visiting and profiling individual companies. I hope that you find my reflections useful!
